Beulah book ban
Author reacts: The author of the best-seller "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" said he never thought about North Dakota until he heard the Beulah (N.D.) School Board banned his book from the high school library. The book was banned in Beulah for four days until the School Board reversed itself. Berendt told The Bismarck Tribune that until he heard about the case, he "hadn't thought of North Dakota one way or another." Now, he said, "I think more of the state." He said he would send a signed copy of "Midnight" to the three Beulah High School girls who defended their right to read the book, The Associated Press reported.
