More than 1,000 UND student, faculty and staff volunteers took to the streets of the Greater Grand Forks community Saturday to complete service projects for the 11th annual Big Event.
The community service project brought volunteers to homes, nonprofit offices, churches, parks and other locations.
The day started at 9 a.m. at the UND Wellness Center with remarks by Grand Forks Mayor Mike Brown and UND President Robert Kelley.
The crews worked from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. while sporting the event’s familiar T-shirts proclaiming “do work.”
The Big Event is meant to say “thank you” to the Greater Grand Forks community for their support of UND, according to the event’s website.
