BELLE RIVER, Minn. - A fire here this week destroyed potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of recreational vehicles and other equipment when flames gutted a 40-by-100-foot detached metal shed.
Firefighters from nearby Carlos and Miltona responded to the large structure fire at 12:14 p.m. Tuesday, Douglas County Sheriff's Department officials say.
Firefighters arrived to find the building engulfed in flames. Thick, black smoke from the blaze could be seen from miles away.
The building - owned by Brian Gustafson - housed tractors, collectible cars, at least three all-terrain vehicles, portable fish houses, a pontoon, a couple of boats, collectible tractors and more.
A sheriff's deputy at the scene estimated the loss at several hundred thousand dollars. The building and everything in it was destroyed, but no one was injured in the fire.
