THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Two airlines have submitted proposals to take over subsidized Essential Air Service at the Thief River Falls Regional Airport.
Bemidji Airlines and Great Lakes Aviation have applied to replace Mesaba Airlines, which is dropping its service to the city.
Joe Hedrick, the airport manager, said Bemidji Airlines is proposing three direct flights daily to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on a nine-seat aircraft. Great Lakes, based in Cheyenne, Wyo., proposes two daily direct flights to the Twin Cities on a 19-seat aircraft.
