Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge in northwestern Minnesota is now selling woodcutting permits for $40, valid from Aug. 27 through April 15.
Refuge personnel use woodcutting as a management tool to promote habitat diversity and to enhance oak tree growth.
A refuge map showing the two designated cutting areas and access trails, along with a list of permit conditions, is available at the refuge office.
