Accident sends two GF women to Altru

Two Grand Forks women were admitted with injuries Tuesday evening to Altru Hospital after a two-vehicle accident at 17th Avenue South and South Washington Street, Grand Forks police said.

Darcy Berg, 44, was listed in serious condition and Shirley Cordts, 74, in satisfactory condition Wednesday evening.

Witness accounts said Berg was traveling north on South Washington Street at about 10:20 p.m. when her 2002 Nissan struck a 2000 Dodge Caravan driven by Cordts, who was turning left to go south. Cordts had to be extricated from the Dodge by the Grand Forks Fire Department, police said.

Both vehicles were significantly damaged and towed from the scene. Police said no arrest was made and no citation has been issued at this point. The crash is under investigation.
