BISMARCK – The North Dakota Department of Health is responding to a spill involving 6,258 gallons of brine released from a pipeline in Dunn County.
The department was notified Tuesday that 149 barrels of brine -- a byproduct of oil and gas production -- was released from a pipeline at a well owned by Marathon Oil about 6 miles north of Killdeer.
There’s no evidence of the spill impacting wetlands at this time, according to a news release from the health department.
The department will work with the company on remediation plans, the release stated.
