You began fall camp with high expectations. A few days into camp, however, you sprained your ankle. How's the ankle feeling and can it hold up for a season?
It's good. It feels really good. I was able to take some time off last week, which was really good. I was worried it would follow me all season, but our bye week helped. Hopefully, it won't be an issue anymore.
You're one of only three defensive starters returning this season. How strong is UND's defense?
The offense got most of the praise last game (against Humboldt State) but the defense stepped up and pitched a shutout. It didn't matter who we had on the field. We had that pride that we didn't want to give up any points. But we're too disciplined to rest on our laurels from that game. As our competition gets better, the defense will be more in the spotlight. This week will be a really big test for us.
You've been drafted by the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. You're a Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan, having grown up in Winnipeg. How much attention do you pay to the CFL?
The Bombers lost to Saskatchewan last week in the Labor Day Classic. I'll always be a Bomber fan. But I'm just focused on having a good game this week.
Southern Utah will run a spread offense, one that can be difficult on a defensive secondary. Any thoughts on the spread offense?
I like it from the defensive back's standpoint.
