Back May 29-31 for its fourth year in Fargo, the 48 Hour Film Project is an international filmmaking competition in which teams must write, shoot and edit a film in less than 48 hours.

One winner, dubbed "Best of Fargo," will go on to compete against teams from all over the U.S. and dozens of cities across the globe.

The 48 Hour Film Project weekend is simple, a news release said. On the first evening, teams will draw a genre, unique to their team, and all teams will receive a character name and occupation, a line of dialogue and a prop.

They must use these parameters to write a script, shoot their footage and edit the film to seven minutes before the deadline of 7 p.m. May 31.

Organizers encourage filmmakers from across North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Canada to come to Fargo to compete. Fargo has hosted groups from across the area during the competition weekend and advice on shooting locations, accommodations and equipment rental can be obtained by contacting Fargo City Producer J.J. Gordon.
