Three people who resuscitated a jogger who collapsed June 5 in Fargo will receive the F-M Ambulance Service's Lifesaving Award during a ceremony today.

According to the ambulance service:

Bridget and Michael Maresh were driving by when they saw the male jogger collapse.

The husband and wife stopped their car and got out to assess the situation. They initially found a pulse, but the jogger soon went into cardiac arrest.

Rachel Wegner saw what was happening and stopped to help.

All three performed CPR until the ambulance arrived, and they assisted the ambulance crew by continuing CPR until firefighters arrived to take over.

The three will receive the Lifesaving Award and the ambulance service's Medal of Merit during a ceremony at 11:30 a.m. today at F-M Ambulance Service, 2215 18th St. S. in Fargo. The jogger has been invited to attend.

The ambulance service gives the Lifesaving Award whenever community members are instrumental in helping during such an emergency, paramedic Kristi Engelstad said.

Maresh was a four-year starting linebacker on the North Dakota State University football team from 2005 to 2008. He's now a graduate assistant with the football team at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan.
