2 plead guilty in federal court to Taco John's robbery, shooting

FARGO -- Two Moorhead men have pleaded guilty in federal court here in connection with a robbery at a Taco John's restaurant here last fall in which a store employee was shot in the leg.

FARGO - Two Moorhead men have pleaded guilty in federal court here in connection with a robbery at a Taco John's restaurant here last fall in which a store employee was shot in the leg.

Rico Jamal Brown, 27, and Calvin Michael Frederick Brown, 25, pleaded guilty Friday to robbery charges, said U.S.District Court spokesman John Trautman.

Trautman said Rico Brown admitted to aiding and abetting in the crime by acting as lookout for two men who entered the store during the Sept. 3 robbery at a south Fargo Taco John's restaurant.

Calvin Brown admitted to acting as the getaway driver, Trautman said.

One other man has made an initial appearance in federal court on charges related to the robbery, and two more are charged in Cass County and are awaiting their first appearance in federal court.

Both Browns are set for sentencing April 21.

The case remains under investigation by the Fargo police and the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Trautman said.
