University of Minnesota-Crookston officials said Wednesday they have dismissed two students from the school's athletics program after the men were arrested Tuesday in connection with a reported armed burglary of a home in Crookston.
Anthony Glen Barge, 21, and Joseph Moorer, 20, were arrested Tuesday within a couple hours of the reported burglary, which happened off campus south of downtown in Crookston, police said.
They remain in the regional jail in Crookston and are expected to appear in court Thursday on the charges.
Barge was a quarterback on the UMC football team and Moorer played on the basketball team, said Andrew Svec, spokesman for the university.
According to a report from Crookston Police Department, a woman in the 400 block of South Ash Street reported that about 2 p.m. Tuesday, two men wearing black masks burst into her apartment. One pointed a black handgun at her while the other filled plastic garbage bags with cash, electronic game devices, footwear, clothing and jewelry.

Witnesses said the two men fled in a silver Chrysler 200 sedan with Georgia license plates, according to police.
One of the student athletes reportedly is from Georgia.
Police soon found the car on campus and arrested Barge and Moorer by about 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Both were charged with robbery and were transported to the regional jail in Crookston. Police said they recovered all of the stolen items, including cash, as well as masks believed to have been used in the robbery and an air pistol that resembles a Beretta semi-automatic handgun.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office assisted Crookston police. The case remains under investigation.
Svec said school officials haven't decided yet whether the two students would also be dismissed from school or other action taken against them.
