2 charged with selling meth in East Grand Forks

CROOKSTON--Bail has been set for two Grand Forks residents charged in connection with illegal drug sales near an East Grand Forks park earlier this week.

Polk County District Judge Tamara Yon set bond at $10,000 Thursday for Amanda Rae Halldorson, 32,, who is charged with four felonies: second-degree sale of a controlled substance, third-degree sale, third-degree possession and fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.  Bond was set at $7,500 for James Marvin Sackett, 31, who is charged with second-degree sale of a controlled substance, a felony, third-degree felony sale of a controlled substance, third-degree felony possession and one count of driving while impaired, a third-degree gross demeanor.

A search of a vehicle police said was used by the suspects yielded a container that contained methamphetamine, suspected marijuana, a suspected methamphetamine pipe, 10-gram weights and small plastic bags containing white residue, according to the complaint. Police also confiscated two yellow pills inside a purse that later were confirmed to contain Clonazepam, a controlled substance. The Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force and East Grand Forks Police Department cooperated on the case, according to the report. Halldorson and Sackett remained in Northwest Regional Correctional Center in Crookston Thursday. Their next court appearances are scheduled at 9 a.m. Tuesday. At least one other suspect was arrested in connection with the incident, though the suspect had not been formally charged as of Thursday afternoon, according to East Grand Forks Police Lt. Rod Hajicek. Second-degree felony sale of a controlled substance is punishable by 3 to 40 years in prison and up to a $500,000 fine.
