12-vehicle crash closes I-29 for 90 minutes

BOWESMONT, N.D.--Twelve vehicles crashed into each other and blocked Interstate-29 for an hour and a half Monday afternoon in Pembina County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

BOWESMONT, N.D.-Twelve vehicles crashed into each other and blocked Interstate-29 for an hour and a half Monday afternoon in Pembina County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

At least three people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Patrol.

At 1:43 p.m., a semi rear-ended a passenger car and Pembina County deputies arrived on scene, according to a news release.

Another semi then hit one of the deputy vehicles parked on the shoulder. The deputy was uninjured. Later, three more semis became involved in the crash.

In total, the Highway Patrol estimates about 12 vehicles were involved in the crashes, including two deputy vehicles, one passenger car and five semis.
