ARNEGARD, N.D. -- About 1,000 barrels of brine have been released at a well site 11 miles northwest of Arnegard in western North Dakota, the North Dakota Department of Health said in a press release.
Most of the produced water brine has been contained and recovered on the site owned by Oasis Petroleum in Mckenzie County, however, an unknown amount spilled onto adjacent land and impacted a nearby stream, the department said.
Oasis said the leak was caused by a corroded pipe connection.
Inspectors from the Health Department and the Department of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas Division, are at the site and will work with the company on remediation.
