Friday classes have been called off at UND, Grand Forks Public Schools and East Grand Forks Public Schools.

All three announced the decision Thursday evening, , Oct. 10, as icy rain and snow plagued the region.

UND sent an announcement to the Herald Thursday evening that urged students to "follow the direction of their faculty member for online course work as laid out in their course syllabi. Essential personnel should report to work as scheduled. Please check the University web site, social media, email and local media outlets for updated information on reopening time."

Grand Forks Public Schools posted an announcement to the district website Thursday, saying "All Grand Forks Public and Grand Forks Air Force Base Schools are canceled for Friday, October 11th. This cancellation includes Head Start and Early Childhood Special Education classes and all after-school activities."

On the East Grand Forks School District website, a live feed from Superintendent Mike Kolness said "Due to the current and predicted weather conditions, East Grand Forks Public Schools will be closed on Friday, October 11th. Please be safe!"
