UPDATED: Driver in fatal motorcycle crash near Grand Forks identified

One is dead after a Saturday motorcycle crash north of Grand Forks.

The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 29, near mile marker 148, north of Grand Forks and four miles south of Manvel.

Sunday evening, the Highway Patrol identified the victim as Jonathan Hughes, 55, of Grand Forks.

According to a report from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Hughes, driving a 1998 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic, hit a guardrail along the interstate. The report said he was not wearing a helmet.

He was transported by ambulance to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

At the time of the incident, the weather was sunny but windy, according to the Highway Patrol.
