A little red car: Dakota Spotlight Season 3, episode 1
Listen to Dakota Spotlight, a true crime podcast hosted by James Wolner of Forum Communications Co.
On a quiet Friday morning in September of 1998, a 17-year-old girl named Aimee walked into the police department in Bismarck, N.D. The young woman said she wasn’t exactly sure, but she had a hunch that her 18-year-old boyfriend might have hurt his mother and father.
The parents could not be reached and people were growing concerned.
Not a problem, a simple welfare check would set this story straight. Bismarck may be a capital city, but big city tragedies -- such as double homicides -- were reserved for other places.
At the south Bismarck home of Barbara and Gordon Erickstad, police officers walked into an alarming and puzzling scene. Something horrendous must have happened here. But what exactly? And where were the Erickstads?
Perhaps Aimee and her boyfriend’s other friends would help the police find answers. Certainly anyone would help to find answers, wouldn’t they?
