A Bismarck man suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash outside Grand Forks Thursday morning, May 13.
According to a release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Texas man Bryan Foos, 54, was pulling a Kenworth trailer loaded with alcoholic beverages on Interstate 29 approximately a half mile north of 32nd Street just before 11 a.m. Thursday.
The release states that Foos' Kenworth struck a Mack driven by Glen Bergquist, Jr., 60, of Grand Forks, which had just entered the highway. Bergquist then drove the Mack to the right-hand shoulder and stopped, while the Kenworth entered the median, where it struck the high-tension cable barrier and continued northward.
Christopher Swenson, 33, of Bismarck, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado south on I-29 when he drove into the median as an evasive action when it appeared the Kenworth was going to enter the southbound lanes. The front of the Kenworth then struck the Chevrolet, according to the release.
Swenson was transported to Altru Hospital with minor injuries. Neither Bergquist nor Foos were injured, the release states. I-29 traffic was reduced to one lane in each direction for about three hours for emergency response and cleanup, and the crash remains under investigation by Highway Patrol
