BISMARCK — Three of North Dakota's public schools were awarded $100,000 fitness centers for their commitment to health and wellness, Gov. Doug Burgum announced on Monday, May 16.
The Jim Hill Middle School in Minot, Rolla School in Rolla and Solen School in Solen each won DON'T QUIT! fitness centers worth $100,000. My Fitness Store Commercial is supplying the equipment, and public and private partnerships with companies, including Coca-Cola Co. and Nike, are providing the funds, the governor's office said in a release.
The three schools were awarded the fitness centers for "demonstrating leadership in getting and keeping their students fit," the governor's office said.
"North Dakota elementary and middle schools submitted some outstanding applications to the DON’T QUIT! campaign," Burgum said on Monday. "Our administration has always believed in making health and fitness a priority for our children, and we are thrilled and grateful that three schools in our great state will be rewarded with a brand new DON’T QUIT! Fitness Center. Congratulations to Jim Hill Middle School, Rolla School and Solen School!"
The 2022 DON'T QUIT Campaign is a program sponsored by the National Foundation for Governors' Fitness Councils, chaired by fitness icon Jake "Body by Jake" Steinfeld.
