CRYSTAL, N.D. — Authorities have identified the 62-year-old man who died after being pinned underneath a lawn mower.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said Mark Sagert, of Cavalier, was mowing the east ditch of 134th Avenue Northeast and state Highway 66 about 5 miles west of Crystal at 11:44 a.m. July 26 when the mower began to slide as he maneuvered over the top of a culvert opening. The lawn mower rolled over, and he was pinned underneath.

A co-worker and a few other people helped move the mower off Sagert, who was taken by ambulance to First Care Hospital in Park River, N.D. Authorities said he was later transferred to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
