Devils Lake man granted time served for gross sexual imposition

He has credit for 605 days and will be on supervised probation for five years.

NELSON COUNTY, N.D. — A Devils Lake man convicted of gross sexual imposition was sentenced on Friday, Nov. 18.

Douglas Wayne Olson, 62, was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child — a Class AA felony — as well as gross sexual imposition — a Class A felony — in 2020. His charge for continuous sexual abuse of a child was dismissed last year, but he was convicted of gross sexual imposition in August. Olson knew the victim.

Olson was sentenced to credit for time served. His time served is from Oct. 31, 2020, to June 27, 2022, a total of 605 days.

Olson will be on supervised probation for five years.

Other conditions of Olson's probation include registering as a sex offender and completing a sex offender treatment program. He cannot contact the victim or her direct family.


He owes a total of $1,525 in fines and fees.
