Two Grand Forks residents die in Friday night crash in Crookston

CROOKSTON, Minn. -- Two people were killed in a crash in Crookston on Friday night, Sept. 3.

A 33-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, both from Grand Forks, were killed in the crash, which occurred around 11:30 p.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 2 near South Road in Crookston. The 2008 Nissan Altima was heading eastbound when it left the roadway and hit a tree, according to a crash report from the Minnesota State Patrol.

The names of those who died have not yet been released.

Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow tweeted Saturday morning that both occupants have died. The crash remains under investigation and info will be updated when available, Grabow said.

The Crookston Police Department, Crookston Fire and Polk County Sheriff's Office also responded.
