At least one person was taken to a hospital Tuesday morning after an alleged hit-and-run traffic accident in south Grand Forks.

A maroon Cadillac with a tan-colored top reportedly ran a stop sign at 40th Avenue South and South 20th Street shortly before 9 a.m. on Jan. 18, police said in a press release, striking a second car, a Honda Accord, that was already traversing the intersection. A Black man in his 30s was driving the Cadillac, police claim. The car was last seen continuing south on 20th, and presumably was damaged on its front end.

A passenger in the Honda was taken to Altru hospital with unknown injuries, according to a police press release. Lt. Dwight Love, a uniform patrol bureau commander at the police department, indicated it was as a precaution. The Honda's driver was Grand Forks resident Rachael Waldbillig.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call them at 701-787-8000. Love said on Tuesday afternoon they've fielded a handful of calls about the Cadillac but, thus far, none have panned out.
