A Grand Forks man pleaded guilty this week to a slew of charges related to an April 20 burglary and assault.
Dexter James Netterville, 27, pleaded guilty Monday, Sept. 15, to burglary, two counts of terrorizing, aggravated assault, interference with a telephone during an emergency call, preventing arrest, violation of an order prohibiting contact, simple assault, criminal mischief and refusal to halt.
He was sentenced to 10 years with the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation with six years suspended, as well as three years of supervised probation.
He faced a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine for the burglary, the most serious of the charges.
According to court documents, Netterville broke into a Grand Forks home around 10:30 p.m. April 20 by forcing entry through a locked door. Netterville, who had an order prohibiting contact with the residents, punched one resident in the head and knocked the phone out of her hand while she was talking with dispatchers. He also kicked and punched the other resident in the head until he lost consciousness.

Netterville also damaged a TV in the living room and struck an unoccupied vehicle parked outside the residence, according to police.
