A Grand Forks Man has been taken into custody after leading law enforcement officials on a chase that ended in neighboring Traill County.

Reed Allen Middleton, 29, of Grand Forks, was taken into custody on the evening of May 22 after fleeing from a traffic stop inside Grand Forks city limits. Grand Forks County sheriff’s deputies were alerted to the situation at about 6:40 p.m. and located Middleton heading west on County Road 4, toward Emerado.

Officers of the Emerado Police Department used spike strips to try to disable Middleton’s vehicle, but the chase continued heading southeast into Traill County on gravel and minimum-maintenance roads. The vehicle came to a stop at the 1300 block of 155th Avenue NE, about 7 miles west of Buxton.

Middleton, the only occupant of the vehicle, was cited with misdemeanor fleeing and driving under revocation charges, as well as a felony reckless endangerment citation.

The Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Emerado Police Department, North Dakota Highway Patrol, Thompson Police Department and Traill County Sheriff’s Office.
