A Grand Forks man accused of threatening to commit a mass shooting was arraigned Wednesday, June 24, in federal court.
Steven Ralph Lindblad, 58, faces a charge of interstate communication of a threat to injure persons and a charge of false information and hoax. The case is being investigated by the FBI.
According to a federal indictment, on Aug. 15, 2019, Lindblad allegedly called a customer service representative at his cell phone provider and said he had explosives and intended to commit a mass shooting.
U.S. Attorney for the District of North Dakota Drew Wrigley could not confirm Wednesday afternoon where Lindblad threatened to commit the shooting.
Lindblad has a criminal history in North Dakota since 1999, which includes mostly misdemeanors. His most serious conviction and only felony charge was for terrorizing in 2006, for which he was sentenced to one year on electronic home monitoring and probation.

A detention hearing in the case has been scheduled Friday, June 26, and a trial has been scheduled for Aug. 11.
