Amid concerns about coronavirus, the Grand Forks library will close until further notice, effective Tuesday, March 17.

"Our top priority is keeping our community and staff safe," Angie Laxdal, marketing director, said in a statement Monday. "Thank you for understanding at this time."

The goal is to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Laxdal said the closure will include all programs and events, story times and book clubs. Also, book drops – including those at Choice Health, the YMCA and Thompson Public School – will be closed. Library materials will not need to be returned until the library has reopened, and no late feels will accrue during that time. Online resources will continue to be available.

As a public service, the Herald has opened this article to everyone regardless of subscription status.
