The Grand Forks Emergency Management Office is holding a Grand Forks County hazard mitigation plan kick-off meeting at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Grand Forks Public Safety Center, 1220 S. 52nd St., Grand Forks. The purpose of the meeting is to organize the Grand Forks County multi-hazard mitigation planning team, review the planning activities and lay the groundwork for a successful hazard mitigation planning process. Grand Forks County residents are invited to participate.
Through the planning process, Grand Forks County and its communities will identify potential hazard mitigation measures for inclusion in the final plan. Counties with an approved hazard mitigation plan become eligible for hazard mitigation grants, which provide funding for sustained actions taken to reduce or eliminate long-term risks from hazards.
