Grand Forks County declares state of emergency in advance of spring flood
Grand Forks County has declared a state of emergency in advance of forecast spring flooding.
The Grand Forks County Commission this afternoon approved a request from Kari Goelz, director of emergency management for the county.
"We need to get our plan rolling, we need to start preparing," Goelz said. "This activates that plan."
Cass County and Fargo have already declared a state of emergency.
By declaring an emergency, the county gets access to Federal Emergency Management Agency funds and statewide emergency funds.
