A team from the Grand Forks Herald will cover the funeral of Grand Forks Police officer Cody Holte, who died in the line of duty on Wednesday, May 27. The funeral will be held in the Ralph Engelstad Arena Tuesday, June 2. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with the funeral service to commence at 1 p.m. Both are open to the public. Look for video, stories and photos as well as items on Twitter and Facebook.

Candidates for the Grand Forks School Board respond to a question from education reporter Pamela Knudson on how the board should approach decision-making regarding the future of the school district’s older, lower-enrollment neighborhood schools. West Elementary, built in 1949, is the latest, but not the only, school to be considered for closure.

Knudson also will have a recap on this spring’s high school graduation ceremonies, which managed to capture the spirit of this milestone event, while complying with restrictions imposed by the pandemic, according to Terry Brenner, superintendent of Grand Forks Public Schools.

Look for these stories and more in print and online on Tuesday and Wednesday.
