LISBON, N.D. — Five people were seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash on a rural road about six miles southwest of Lisbon Wednesday evening, May 18, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred about 7:10 p.m. in the 7200 block of 127th Avenue Southeast, on a gravel road where a culvert had washed out, the patrol said.
According to the Highway Patrol report:
Wesley Alinder, 43, Lisbon, was driving a 2009 Ford Explorer south on 127th Ave. S.E. when he came upon an area closed due to a culvert washed out by erosion. The Explorer entered the washout and the front of the vehicle struck the opposite embankment, coming to rest at impact.
Neither Alinder, or the other occupants of the vehicle, which included 18-year-old Wesley Alinder from Lisbon, and a 14-year-old girl, and 14- and 15-year-old boys, were wearing seat belts. All suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Three of the victims were transported by Sanford Health air ambulance (two in helicopters and one in a fixed-wing aircraft), for treatment of their injuries.
Other agencies responding to the crash included the Ransom County and Sargent County sheriff’s offices, Lisbon Police Department, Lisbon Ambulance, Milnor Ambulance and Casselton Ambulance, and the Lisbon Fire Department.
The weather was clear and windy at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
