An apartment building in Grand Forks caught fire Saturday evening, March 14.
According to the Grand Forks Fire Department, crews were dispatched at 11:26 p.m. to 815 N. 39th Street to assist with the fire. When crews arrived, they found fire coming from a third-floor window of the structure. The building was evacuated while fire personnel worked to extinguish the blaze.
Damage was contained mostly to the one unit, although there was some water damage to the units below. According to a fire department report, one resident from the building was transported to Altru Hospital with unknown injuries.
Damage estimates are more than $10,000, although the cause is still under investigation. Some residents were displaced for the evening, while residents of two adjoining structures were allowed back into their apartments, the fire department reported.
The tenants who were displaced Saturday night were expected to be back in the building Sunday, according to the fire department.
