A semitrailer burst into flames at a Grand Forks gas station late Monday, according to the city.

Firefighters, police, deputies and the truck driver used fire extinguishers to put out the blaze at the Simonson Truck Plaza, 4720 Gateway Drive around 10:40 p.m., a press release said. The fire department used 50 gallons of water to calm smoldering debris and hot spots and the release said firefighters remained on scene to check for hot spots and monitor the passenger compartment area.

Ten firefighters, three engines and a command vehicle responded to the fire, the release said. The semitrailer was leaking fuel onto a stand-alone generator being used for repairs, which sparked the flames, investigators determined.

There was about $10,000 of damage to the 2001 Freightliner and about $2,000 of damage to personal items inside the truck, the release said. There were no injuries.
