GRAND FORKS — Firefighters reported seeing flames shoot out of the roof and front of an unattached residential garage when they arrived to put out a fire shortly after midnight Thursday, June 20.

The Grand Forks Fire Department said it sent eighteen firefighters to the call to 1309 Cottonwood Street at 12:45 a.m.

Firefighters knocked down the flames but said the garage was destroyed.

The fire department reported there were no injuries to firefighters or the homeowners but the fire caused $20,000 in damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
