BIG LAKE, Minn. — Authorities say two children died in a Sherburne County house fire early Friday, April 12, and that their father, who was hospitalized in critical condition, is believed to have intentionally ignited the blaze.
According to the Sherburne County sheriff’s office, Big Lake police and firefighters responded to the home shortly after 5:30 a.m.
Firefighters broke down the door and rescued five people from the house, including four children, in the 19000 block of Karen Lane.
All five were taken to area hospitals, where two of the children died, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported. They were identified as Landon Michael Parker, 2, and Spencer Rae Parker, 1.
Their father, Anthony Robert Parker, 36, was hospitalized along with two other children, ages 9 and 7.
The sheriff’s office said Anthony Parker remains hospitalized under guard as the investigation continues.
