Fire damages home on Cottonwood Street in Grand Forks

Blaze began early in the morning on Wednesday, Dec. 29.


Grand Forks Fire Department crews were called to an overnight fire on Wednesday, Dec. 29.

The blaze began shortly before 2 a.m. at 615 Cottonwood St. According to a release from the GFFD, crews arrived to find a single-family three-story home with flames showing on the exterior of the structure.

The GFFD release said crews extinguished the fire quickly and stayed on the scene for about three hours, performing salvage and overhaul operations.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries.

GFFD responded with 17 personnel, five engines, a ladder truck and a command vehicle. The department was assisted by local police and an Altru ambulance.


In its release, the GFFD reminds residents to have smoke detectors on all levels of homes.
