Fire causes $20K in damage at East Grand Forks grain elevator

Fire crews arrived on scene to find smoke and fire coming from the east side of the elevator, according to a press release from the department. Crews found a section of the floor burning in the structure.

A fire caused around $20,000 in damage at an East Grand Forks grain elevator early Monday morning.

The East Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched around 4:10 a.m. Monday, July 12, to MGI Grain Elevator, located at 316 Fifth Ave. Northeast, for a report of smoke and fire at the facility.

Fire crews arrived on scene to find smoke and fire coming from the east side of the elevator, according to a press release from the department. Crews found a section of the floor burning in the structure.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation with assistance of the Minnesota Fire Marshall.

There was an estimated $20,000 in damage to the structure.
