Driver suffers minor injuries after school bus rollover in Ramsey County, N.D.

Torondo Watson, 50, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries after falling asleep while delivering a school bus to a school in Canada.

A bus driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital Wednesday morning, March 3, after a school bus crash near Churchs Ferry, N.D. The school bus was empty, aside from the driver, at the time of the crash, according to North Dakota Highway Patrol.

North Carolina man Torondo Watson, 50, was delivering the brand-new school bus to a school in Canada, and was driving westbound on Highway 2 near mile marker 250 around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, a NDHP release states.

According to the release, Watson fell asleep while driving, ran off the road to the right, corrected left, crossing both lanes of traffic, ran off the road to the left, overcorrected to the right, spun 180 degrees, rolled several times and came to a final rest in the north ditch, facing east.

Watson was transported by Leeds Ambulance to CHI St. Alexius in Devils Lake. Road conditions were reportedly good, the weather was sunny, and Watson was wearing his seatbelt, the release states.
