A Virginia man convicted of sexual abuse of a child has been sentenced to 20 years in prison with 15 suspended, and five years of supervised probation.
Frank Louis Horta Jr., 21, pleaded guilty in Grand Forks to continuous sexual abuse of a child and luring minors by computer on May 29. He was sentenced to prison on Monday, Sept. 21. He faced a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for the sexual abuse, the more serious of the two charges.
According to court documents, Horta "engaged in sexual acts" with a minor he knew to be younger than 15, and sexually assaulted the child at least six times during the summer of 2017. He also sent sexually explicit text messages to a child in the fall of 2017.
