A Thief River Falls man has pleaded guilty to continuously sexually assaulting a teen from 2010 to 2014 in Grand Forks County.
Bryton Philip Korynta, 28, accepted a plea agreement with the state stipulating he be sentenced to 20 years for gross sexual imposition with 15 suspended, for a total of five years in prison with five years of supervised release. According to the agreement, he would be required to register as a sexual offender and pay $10,000 in restitution to the victim.
Four associated charges will be dismissed, if the plea agreement is accepted.
Northeast Central Judicial District Presiding Judge Donald Hager will decide whether to accept the plea agreement at a sentencing hearing scheduled for Oct. 12. A pre-sentence investigation will be conducted, a process which is expected to take about two months.
