Body found in Mississippi River southeast of Twin Cities

HAGER CITY, Wis. — Pierce County authorities recovered a body Tuesday, March 19, on the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi River backwaters near Hager City about 50 miles southeast of the Twin Cities.

The body of a woman approximately 40 to 50 years old was removed from the water after a fisherman reported finding it around 12:20 p.m. near Everts Resort in the town of Trenton, Pierce County Sheriff Nancy Hove said. A news release states Pierce County Medical Examiner John Worsing pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The body was transported to Ramsey County in Minnesota for an autopsy and identification.
