High-risk sex offender moves to Grand Forks

A high-risk sex offender has moved to Grand Forks from Cando, N.D., the Grand Forks Police Department announced Friday afternoon.

Steven Michael Korb, who was convicted of corrupting a minor in 2010, now lives at 802 N. Fifth Street, No. 3, according to a Police Department news release.

According to North Dakota's sex offender registry, Korb, now 31, received the 2010 conviction after having sex with a 14-year-old girl. The girl had been drunk at a party and was getting sick, so two other people had put her to bed. She then woke up to Korb having sex with her, according to the registry. The girl told Korb to stop, but he continued, the registry said.

High-risk sex offenders are contacted at least every 30 days to verify their status, the police department said in the release.

There are 107 sex offenders living in Grand Forks, according to the police. Eleven are considered high risk.
