Two Grand Forks sisters allegedly assaulted a Walmart employee as they fled the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise on Jan. 20.
Warrants were issued for the arrest of Tiffany Lynae Lewis and Tiauna Marie Lewis Monday.
Both women are facing a felony charge of robbery, which holds a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
An affidavit for their arrest said the sisters were shopping at the Walmart store on Gateway Drive around 7:23 p.m. on Jan. 20. The women headed out of the store with a full shopping cart and began to run after an employee told them to stop, the affidavit said.
The employee grabbed the cart to stop them from stealing the merchandise, but Tiffany Lewis allegedly grabbed him around the neck and head, which caused him harm. The employee kept holding onto the cart while Tiauna tried to push it away, the affidavit said.
Both women eventually gave up and ran to a Dodge Grand Caravan and fled. Officers later found the car and spoke with Tiauna Lewis's fiance.
Police spoke to Tiauna Lewis on the phone and she told them she and her sister filled up a cart and pushed it out of the store without paying, the affidavit said. She allegedly told officers she knew what she did was wrong.
