Bismarck man indicted on multiple child sexual abuse charges
BISMARCK -- A 28-year-old Bismarck man was indicted Thursday, Jan. 17, on charges of sexual acts with minor females, U.S. Attorney Christopher Myers said.
Owen Cordell Smith was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child under 12 years old, abusive sexual contact of a child under 12 and two counts of abusive sexual contact of a child between 12 and 16, a news release said.
The indictment alleges that between May 2011 and May 2015, Smith, a member of the Navajo Nation at Window Rock, Ariz, engaged in sexual acts with three minors on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in North Dakota.
The case is being investigated by the FBI.
