Husband, wife arrested in burglary, theft case
ELDRIDGE, N.D. -- A husband and wife face eight criminal charges each after an alleged burglary and theft north of Eldridge on Monday, according to Jason Falk, a deputy with the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident began at 11:16 a.m. when a man reported to the Stutsman County Communications Center that he found an unfamiliar car in the garage of a property he owned but does not live in.
The property owner has invoked his Marsy’s Law rights and was not identified.
Falk said as the owner approached the house, a man ran from the house into trees near the property.
When Falk arrived, he found the owner and a neighbor talking with Nathan Wahl, 33, Jamestown, and Jennifer Wahl, 33, Fargo, next to a car. Falk said the couple is married but separated.
Falk said he made a preliminary search of the car and placed Nathan Wahl and Jennifer Wahl under arrest for burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A further search of the car was conducted at the Stutsman County Law Enforcement Center after a search warrant was obtained. The search of the car found items taken from the home along with drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Jennifer Wahl was charged with burglary and criminal conspiracy, Class C felonies, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanors, and theft of property, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal mischief, Class B misdemeanors.
Nathan Wahl was charged with burglary, criminal conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Class C felonies, possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor, and theft of property, ingesting a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Class B misdemeanors.
The Wahls are in custody at the Stutsman County Correctional Center.
