AUDUBON, Minn. - The Becker County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday morning, Nov. 14, confirmed that one person died in a shooting here Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 13, and one person was taken into custody.
The name of the deceased, a male, was not released.
The person arrested was identified by the sheriff's office as Michaelray Ericthomas Mason, 29, of Audubon. Mason was being held in the Becker County Jail Wednesday morning.
The incident was reported about 4:40 p.m. Tuesday at a home in Audubon, and law enforcement officers were on the scene late into the night.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was with the Becker County Sheriff’s Department investigating the scene.
Neighbors told WDAY-TV that they didn’t hear any shots around the time the incident was reported.
A city block was closed off, and officers with the Detroit Lakes Police Department and Audubon Police Department were also at the scene, along with an ambulance.
Becker County Sheriff Todd Glander stressed Tuesday there was no threat to the public.
Audubon is about 7 miles west of Detroit Lakes.
