Man charged with trying to sell cocaine
A Grand Forks man was arrested Wednesday for trying to sell cocaine, according to police.
Mohamed Omar Sharif, 23, could face up to 10 years and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
He's charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine, separate charges for possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, marijuana wax and drug paraphernalia.
A probation officer checked on Sharif at his home on the 3000 block of South 10th Street Wednesday morning, according to an affidavit for his arrest. Sharif allegedly did not answer and the officer found him sleeping.
Court documents said a search of his apartment revealed bags of cocaine, a scale, a vacuum-sealed bag with marijuana and foreign money, over $3,000 cash, marijuana wax, three pills of oxycodone and khat, which is a plant-based stimulant.
