WILLMAR, Minn. – With the help of a drone and dog, two suspects were found in a cornfield west of Willmar on Wednesday, July 18, after they allegedly fled from a drug task force agent.
A 42-year-old Willmar man was arrested. He was accompanied by a 28-year-old Granite Falls woman, authorities said.
The agent from the CEE-VI Drug and Gang Task Force attempted to stop a vehicle in Willmar when the pair fled. The pursuit went several miles before the vehicle entered a cornfield, where the occupants fled on foot further into the field, authorities said in a news release.
A perimeter was set up around the field by law enforcement and a drone from the Willmar Police Department and a Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit were able to track down the suspects hiding in the cornfield. The dog physically apprehended one of the suspects, a law enforcement report said.
