Debbie Kleven announced her future plans once she resigns as a district judge in Grand Forks and Nelson counties: She's joining Vogel Law Firm.
Kleven announced her resignation as a Northeast Central Judge a couple of weeks ago. After she steps down Aug. 5, she will join the firm's Grand Forks office on Sept. 1 with plans to practice mediation, arbitration, farm and business succession planning, trusts and estates and elder law, according to a news release.
"We couldn't be more excited about Judge Kleven's decision to join the Vogel office in Grand Forks," Peter Welte, a partner at Vogel Law Firm's Grand Forks location, said in a statement. "To add an attorney with her depth of experience and breadth of knowledge is a rarity."
Kleven will join more than 50 attorneys working in Grand Forks, Fargo, Bismarck, Moorhead and Minneapolis.
"With over 30 years of courtroom experience, both as an attorney and as a judge, I believe that I have a unique perspective as to what works and what does not work in the law," Kleven said in a statement. .
